Enhanced accurate picking feature.

All CAD and CAM entities can be scaled, translated, mirrored and rotated. CAD entities can be trimmed, segmented, filleted, chamfered, and extended.

Dimensioning supports aligned and uni-directional linear dimensions, as well as ordinate, baseline, datum, diametric, and radial dimensions.
Support for English and metric units, fractions and other dimensioning styles.

Surface Modeling

Supports multiple surface creation methods: swept, ruled, plane, offset, surface of revolution, four-curve (Coon's patch), three-curve, constant and variable radius fillet, complex surface and two-surface blend.

Provides tools for easy manipulation of surfaces, either as a single surface or a combination.

Projects 2D or 3D entities onto any surface for engraving and free form cutting.
Supports the calculation of an infinite number of surface intersections.

Separates the core and cavity on parts designed with thickness included.
Interfaces with Open GL graphics cards for interactively generating high speed, high quality surface shading. Allows dynamic pan, zoom and rotate of shaded models.

2½ Axis Milling

The ProCAM II machining cycles generate optimized toolpaths for enhanced 2½ axis milling. Simulation, associative operations, and integrated feeds/speeds tables are examples of the easy-to-use tools provided to assist the programmer.

Cycles

ProCAM 2½ Axis Milling cycles include pocketing, profile, drill plunge roughing, Z wall definition, free form cutting and drilling. Machining algorithms use the latest toolpath and gouge protection methods. Cutting cycles provide fast, error-free toolpaths using ball, flat end mill, taper, corner round, thread mill and hog nose tools.

Tombstone, Rotary/Tilt Table Support

Multi-plane machining allows easy implementation of tombstone work.
Subroutines; fixture, work coordinate, and work and sub coordinates offsets.
Horizontal milling machine viewing option.

Additional Features and Tools

Toolpath creation and code generation is intuitive with a full range of easy-to-use tools.

Tree-based operations management includes moving, copying, saving and inserting repetitive operations.

Tool Library representing all the tools in your current inventory. Define tools only once, not at every turret change.

Fast, fully integrated material cutting simulation uses a solid model to display material removal process and compare work in process and part model.

Integrated Feed/Speed Library has modifiable database containing over 1.7 million feed/speed combinations representing over 1100 materials. Calculates feeds and speeds automatically

Surface Machining

ProCAM II offers two levels of Surface Machining.

3 Axis Milling Level I includes Adv. Roughing, Adv. Slice, Adv. Z Level, and Adv. Pencil Mill cutting cycles along with UV Cut and Curve Cut cycles.

3 Axis Milling Level II includes Level I cycles plus Adv. Constant Offset, Adv. Curve Projection and Adv. Finish Flats cycles. Rest machining support for all Adv. 3 Axis cycles is also included.

Advanced 3 Axis Cycles

To meet changing needs in the machining industry, TekSoft's new Advanced 3 Axis cutting cycles have been developed for speed, accuracy and efficient memory usage. Simple and complex parts can be cut quickly and accurately with a high quality toolpath.

Selective toolpath controls provide options such as high speed machining, leads, links and filters for efficient multi-surface code generation. OpenGL, simulation, interactive picking and a modern user interface further enhance programming.

Advanced 3 Axis Mill Features

All Advanced 3 Axis Milling cycles:

  • Can be modified to stay contained within an area or to avoid an area.
  • Provide interactive methods for defining contain and avoid areas.
  • Can optionally machine over avoid areas.
  • Can generate high-speed toolpaths with no sharp corners.
  • Can generate toolpaths with ball, flat, hog nose, tapered ball, tapered flat, or tapered hog nose tools.
  • Allow user defined start and end Z depths.
  • Support slope containment (except Rough and Finish Flats cycles).
  • Advanced Roughing and Z-Level include an option to avoid small pockets.
  • Advanced Slice includes Planar slice cutting options for cross machining and up and down milling.
  • Advanced Pencil Mill generates toolpaths to finish machine corner areas using a single pass or multiple constant stepover passes.
    Additional Level II Features

With a 3 Axis Mill Level II license:

Finish Rest machining allows a finish cutting cycle to be generated on areas where the part is uncut. Toolpaths can be generated where material is left either by a previous tool or by previous operations (Work in Process)

Rough Rest machining allows a rough cutting cycle to be made on part areas where material was left from selected previous cycles.
The Constant Offset Cut cycle removes material by maintaining a constant user-defined stepover relative to the surface. This cycle generates a semi-finish or finish toolpath with a true constant stepover regardless of the slope being machined.

The Advanced Curve Projection Cut cycle removes material by projecting cross section entities onto the surface and generating toolpaths along the projected entities.

The Finish Flats Cut cycle uses a roughing pattern to remove material on flat faces.

Solids Machining

With the Solids Machining option, ProCAM II becomes a state-of-the-art intelligent CAM solution using Automatic Feature Recognition coupled with knowledge-based machining technology to further automate the programming process.

Automatic and Interactive Feature Recognition

Solids Machining is a feature-based machining CAM system that provides the ability to automatically recognize many prismatic features including tapers. Automatic Feature Recognition (AFR) analyzes the part shape and attempts to define the most common machinable features such as pockets, bosses, holes and slots. AFR recognizes features on native SolidWorks part models or on solid parts imported via IGES, SAT, etc.

Solids Machining provides an Interactive Feature wizard for defining features that are not recognized automatically or features that are not recognized the way you want to machine them.

Machining Operations

After machinable features have been defined, the user can generate an Operation Plan to machine the features on the part. Machining operations include roughing, finishing, drilling, etc. Operations are associated to machinable features.

Knowledge-Based Machining

TekSoft’s proprietary TechDB, a Microsoft Access database, is the intelligence behind the machining automation in CAMWorks. Using Knowledge-Based Machining technology, the tooling, cutting conditions, and operation defaults are associated with the features defined by Automatic Feature Recognition (AFR) and the operations are generated automatically. The toolpath is then calculated. To further enhance the automation process, the knowledge-based rules in the TechDB are fully customizable to represent your current machining environment.
